Team traWell has a soft spot for England. It is the largest of the four “home nations” that make up the United Kingdom with almost 52 million inhabitants. Let’s help you get your bearings: on the island of Great Britain, Scotland sits to the north of England & Wales is to the west. Northern Ireland &the Republic of Ireland lie across the Irish Sea. France & the Channel Islands are across the English Channel to the south, & to the east is the North Sea. It should come as no surprise that tourism plays a significant part in the economic life of England. In 2018, the United Kingdom as a whole was the world’s 10th most visited country for tourists & 17 of the United Kingdom’s 25 UNESCO World Heritage Sites fall within England.

What to Expect

On this wellness escape, guests will visit London, one of the world’s leading tourism destinations & home to an array of famous attractions. Did you know that London is the largest metropolitan area in Western Europe & a global capital of finance, fashion, art & culture?

Sights to see: the London Eye is a giant Ferris wheel located on the edge of the River Thames – we love the breathtaking views from its apex. A short walk away, the area boasts the London Aquarium, Elizabeth Tower, the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey & Nelson’s Column. The tallest building in London, the Shard, also offers a viewing platform to the public – not to be missed. Other major tourist attractions include the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace (only open to the public during a limited number of months in the summer), the Tower Bridge Experience, Madame Tussauds, ZSL London Zoo, the London Dungeon & St Paul’s Cathedral.

The real treat in this itinerary is the visit Bath, the largest city in the county of Somerset. Bath is known for & named after its Roman-built baths with healing, soothing thermal water. The city became a World Heritage site in 1987 renowned for its Georgian architecture, gardens, parks, & museums.

The itinerary wouldn’t be complete without an excursion to Stonehenge – the “world wonder” prehistoric monument in Wiltshire. It consists of a ring of standing stones, each around 13 feet (4.0 m) high, seven feet (2.1 m) wide, & weighing around 25 tons. It never fails to amaze us that the stones are set within earthworks in the middle of the densest complex of Neolithic & Bronze Age monuments in England, including several hundred tumuli (burial mounds). One of the most famous landmarks in the United Kingdom, Stonehenge is regarded as a British cultural icon.
