Contrast Temperature Therapy

use of thermal spa, infra red sauna, steam bath, cold showers.

What is Contrast Temperature Therapy?

Contrast temperature therapy exposes the body to extreme temperatures in order to relieve, heal and improve your sense of wellbeing. The therapy usually exposes you to two contrasting temperatures e.g. steam baths & cold showers.

What is the science behind it?

Our body has an immune system that reacts to external stimuli. Two reactions happen when you are exposed to hot and cold temperatures:

  • Vasodilatation – this occurs in the heat, where our blood vessels becomes wide and allows blood to flow easily
  • Vasoconstriction – this occurs in the cold when our blood vessels become narrow and it constricts blood flow

When either vasodilation and vasoconstriction happen the blood flow alternates it’s direction to the organs and can produce a number of benefits such as:

  • Reducing swelling
  • Inflammation
  • Enhancing your sleep
  • Improving circulation

How do we incorporate it into traWell?

At traWell, we’ve partnered up with leading spa’s across the globe to provide you with access to contrast temperature therapy. A firm favourite, the Thermae Bath Spa, has facilities and an open air rooftop pool helping you detox and relax in stunning surroundings at the same time to get you to truly experience contrast temperature therapy.
